Elms Barn is thrilled to announce the appointment of Jason Wright as new Executive Head Chef

For many years Jason was renowned as the Head Chef of the Swan at Loddon, our sister pub and restaurant with rooms.  Now recently promoted to Executive Head Chef, across both The Swan and Elms Barn, he has created delicious new menus for spring, summer, autumn and winter bringing the focus back to fresh, seasonal and local produce with menus that celebrate the best of Norfolk and Suffolk, for both quality and environmental reasons.  Jason loves nothing more than meeting native producers and farmers to see exactly where his ingredients come from to ensure the quality is of the highest standard as you would expect at Elms Barn.

Jason started his chef career by attending Great Yarmouth college one day a week while still at school.  He enjoyed it so much he went on to attend full-time catering college where he excelled.

Once qualified he went on to obtain a position at Carlton Manor in Carlton Colville as a Commis Chef working with a great chef named Jonathon Nicholson who taught him the tricks of the trade which enabled Jason to climb the ranks before moving on to the Fritton House Hotel.  Operated by Adnams at the time he worked as a Chef de Partie working up to Sous Chef, eventually becoming Head Chef.

Jason’s next move was to the Loddon Swan where he was the Head Chef for 7 years.  He obtained an AA Rosette at the Swan in May 2015 and an AA double Rosette in May 2017 and was also runner up as Chef of the Year in the EDP Norfolk Food & Drink Awards in 2017.

Modern British cooking is the style of food you will find at Elms Barn, taking the best ingredients, keeping things simple, yet exciting and using cooking techniques to get the best out of the best.

Chocolate & Baileys Crème Brulee, Granola, Macerated Raspberry

Wedding couples have the option to meet with Jason to discuss menu options and also as part of their pre-wedding tasting, which is all part of the high-end food and drink experience at Elms Barn.
